Denise Fairweather

Denise's career started as an artist, and teacher and then 1972 operator of her first company, A Gift Place and Battle Ground Florist. In 1976 she opened her second company Main Street Florist and Uptown Art Gallery, operating the stores concurrently. She became known as a leader in three important areas: doing commercial interior design for the Red Lion Hotels, Inn at the Quay and Parker House, presenting notable show house events, and award-winning designs for the Portland Grand Floral Parade.

Denise eventually sold her business interests and became affiliated with Paul Schatz Furniture as Creative Director for the Drexel Heritage multifaceted galleries. She presented design seminars, and workshops and earned another reputation in the high-end accessory market as a buyer.

Accredited as an Allied member accredited with the American Society of Interior Designers, (A.S.I.D.), Denise invested her expertise as an adjunct interior design college instructor and enjoyed significant success as a senior-level Street of Dreams project designer with the Portland Home Builder Association in show after show, year after year.

Later, Denise worked in high fashion in partnership with Ralph Lauren, as a regional specialist. This endeavor allowed her the opportunity to relocate to her community of choice, the celebrated Oregon coast.

In 2006 Denise founded Fairweather House & Garden. With the formation of this company, Denise acquired earth-friendly, high-quality accessories, extraordinary lighting, and fashionable home furnishings lines. Since then, this multi-dimensional company has selected exclusive home decor and offers imaginative interior design.

In 2010, the company became Fairweather House and Gallery representing regional, local, and emerging artists in the area and offering original fine art.

Although Denise could rest on her laurels, she continues to push the boundaries of style, refining, reinventing, and making it ever new. She possesses the curiosity, sensitivity, discipline, and vision to show emerging design in a discerning shopping environment with great interest, intrigue, and passion.

Beautiful things emphasize tranquility and timelessness, this is Fairweather.

Don Larson, Mayor

"Denise,  Great article in The Daily Astorian I appreciate you in Seaside."

Letter from: Everett A. Eaton, Mayor
I have known Denise for years in her capacity as a business owner in our city and in a wide array of community service functions. She is active in the Chamber of Commerce. A leader in the General Federated Women's Club (GFWC), her contributions to the good of our City have been recognized both locally and statewide.

Notwithstanding these activities, the most remarkable efforts on behalf of the community are Denise's coordination of the Battle Ground float entry for the Portland Rose Festival Parade. Dense has worked on this project for the past fifteen years, serving as Chairman for many years. It is easy to understand why she was chosen as our 1983 First Citizen for Battle Ground.

Dear fairweather house & gallery:
The gift basket you so generously donated for the 4th of July Silent Auction was perfect! We appreciate your ongoing support of the Seaside Museum and Historical Society and it's activities. Thank you so much and we wish you continued success!
Christine, Seaside Museum Board

Thank you, Denise:
The pictures are really great from the July show. Randy and I really enjoyed the art walk and we think it was very successful. There was a positive vibe going and everybody seemed quite relaxed, including the folks who just walked in for the evening stroll.
We will be heading south again in August.
See you soon!
Patricia and Randy

"I'm always enthralled when entering Fairweather House and Gallery! A feeling of peace and serenity fill my senses. The beautiful books, vases, natural decor and fabrics complement amazing artworks of every medium. Oils, watercolors, mixed media, wood carvings, photographs and jewelry are displayed in unique exhibit centers that meld peacefully one to another. Denise is a artist when it comes to decorating and showcasing beautiful objects and art!"

Dear Denise,
I am enclosing my suggested announcement both in this e-mail and as an attachment.

Please revise it as you see fit. As to the photo, I am still trying to pull one out of my photo file. Could we perhaps use one of those taken on May 3? I'll continue to send you a different photo.

Again, thank you for everything. I am so privileged and so very touched at your invitation to be a resident artist.
Fondly,
Jo

Thank you received:
Thank you so much for the generous donation collected during a recent Art Walk. You were so kind to highlight and celebrate the osprey nest that we are so found of. Your presence on social media helped us spread the word about the news (www.critter.zoom.com), and our work, and we're so very thankful.

This donation will be used to help us upgrade our camera and Internet system to improve the viewing of our Seaside/ Broadway Park osprey nesting activity. Hopefully, we'll have everything back on-line and ready for their return in the spring of 2014.
Warmly,
Melyssa Graeper
Coordinator/ Executive Director

Thanks so much Denise,

Ms. Fairweather,
Thank you so much for hosting my work in your the show titled: Summersault. Your space is beautiful. It was a pleasure spending time with you and in your gallery. You are a great gallery company that takes the time to showcase the work of talented and independent artists from around the coast.

Thank you for the opportunity. Thanks to Becca, too. (Agnes Field/ artist-curator).

The color pieces are Oil on Paper Mounted to Canvas. The Monochromes are Mixed Media on Paper Mounted to Canvas. There you have it. Seven works from me for September 7th, the "Guys Take Over" art walk. The website looks great, thanks for all your effort. It was lovely to meet you.....
thanks again for including me.

I just wanted to thank you so much for the heartfelt hand-written thank you note you sent me recently. Your store is so interesting and creative, and you are a very talented person who invited me into your business to share your time. I truly enjoyed being an art intern during the July Art Walk in Seaside.

I especially enjoyed the time to hear the artist's spinning their stories. In addition, you gave me time to be able to have the freedom to just relax and breathe. This time at the beach, for me, was the perfect balance of work and solitude. It was absolutely wonderful. I can see that you put in so much effort and hard work making everything just perfect and have the show run so smoothly. You are so special to me. I will always remember my time at the beach.
Miss Amanda

Denise,
My Mom and I certainly enjoyed visiting your store as well as meeting Carol. It was the highlight of our time spent in Seaside. Thank you for the amazing memory and the picture. Best wishes,

Denise,
Wow, what an awesome spread you offered me in your blog about my new show in Seattle! Thank you so much! I'll be sure to share the post and your news with Alki Arts! Hope to see you soon!

Denise,
Thanks so much for having me out for the meet and greet. It is always nice to get in front of people to talk about my work. Also, the dinner you ladies packed for me was wonderful. The home made sandwiches, freshly baked brownies and grapes helped me "do dinner" on the five back North. For your information he art show that my painting titled: "Uprising" won first place for acrylic was the City of Tukwila. You now have that painting to show in your gallery.
Again, thank you.
Julie Marcum

Thank you for your continued commitment to the North Coast Land Conservancy with your most recent financial gift. The support of dedicated donors such as you is what makes possible our work of conserving and protecting unique habitats on the Oregon Coast.

We very much appreciated your gift and continued assistance in the work we do. Together we can ensure that the qualities that this place special will endure for generations to come. Denise, you are so amazing! Thank you!

"Thank you for packing the "Feathered Friends" up so beautifully. The work was too good not to resist purchasing. It arrived flawless, and the main reason I chose to have it shipped was the fact the I knew it was in good hands. Your place is fabulous, I found your ladies quite enthusiastic about their work in your gallery.

The trip quite lovely, as we had never visited Seaside before. It was the first time and everyone in the community, from your neighborhood all around, to all the restaurants to the place we stayed at: everyone made us feel like we were visiting family at Thanksgiving. They left us with such nice feeling about Seaside. We are definitely coming back. You have found a couple who will be following all that you do."
